    Flight of the Conchords

Anyone on here fans of Flight of the Conchords? I think this is one of the funniest shows on TV at this time.

Kiwis in New York being Kiwi and every now and then singing songs. A bit like The Mighty Boosh but not as off the wall. It's nice and likeable but rarely hilarious. Same guys made Eagle vs Shark which was kind of in the same understated and quirky bracket.

So.... a Yank production then? With the exception of Lost I avoid those like the plague.

To be fair, the Seppos make the best television in the world these days.

I like it a lot. The one where they split and the manager ended up minted was funny as.

Well, it depends what you like really, but to be fair I think us Brits have always made the best comedies, but then again I'm not American, maybe the likes of 'Friends' and 'Two and a half Mem' are really fucking funny.

I'm sorry but this sentence makes no sense at all.

The UK generally does make the better comedies certainly but by citing those two examples you're not really giving the US its due. Recent output has been much better. Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Office, Arrested Development, 30 Rock, The Sarah Silverman Show, Chappelle's Show. All decent to brilliant. I'd struggle to name that many high quality UK shows for the last two or three years. Also, while they're not necessarily mine or your cups of tea, for family friendly light entertainment shows like Two and a Half Men and King of Queens really aren't anywhere near as awful as what is broadcast in that category in the UK.

No, I think the UK's undeniable ace in the hole for programming is factual television. We rule when it comes to TV documentaries. The US doesn't hold a candle.

Then of course there's drama, and the US owns everyone. The last decade has seen the best television drama ever made. All of it American and the majority of it from one channel. God bless HBO.

Nailed it! I totally agree, but don't forget Seinfeld.

Flight of the Conchords is on HBO. There is a new show starting this Sunday night on HBO called East Bound and Down. It is about a washed up baseball player that moves home to live with his brother's family. It looks like it has the potential to be really good. It has some really funny guys in it.

I didn't forget about Seinfeld, I loved that show. I was just naming examples from the last few years. Don't forget it's been over ten years since the finale aired.

I too agree. UK documentaries forego the incidental music which tends to dominate at least 90% of US docs.

As far as drama goes.. I'd say the US produces some of the best, but Australia and Canada are probably better as they produce some great stuff, and actually let a drama progress to it's conclusion - a lot of FOX/NBC shows get cancelled mid season.

Flight of The Conchords is fantastic! DaveyG, there's a lot more to it than just the music, well worth torrenting.

Can you give me some examples of these great Aussie and Canadian shows?

Australia produced Neighbours and Home and Away.

And did someone claim "The Office" as an American production?
