With April Fool's Day coming up, I'd like to ask the well-informed, critical thinkers here to list details about famous farces.

You know 'em: the lies your teachers taught you (Columbus discovered America)

, the lies in the record books and in patent records (Bill Bryson's A Short History... exposes its fair share).

Then there are the silly rumors and urban myths like the one about the guy on the Newlyweds game show who's supposed reply when asked about the weirdest place he and his wife had ever "made whoopee" was "tha'd be in the butt Bob" (It never happened and I heard it from the host himself).
