Bangkok Phil often makes out that his brother is the unfortunate one, back in blighty with the pressure city job, mortgage, and kids.
It would be interesting to see an impartial interview with his brother about his opinions on Bangkok Phil's alternative lifestyle in Thailand's TEFL industry.
I think that this would be the most interesting Hotseat ever, if genuinely performed.

One can hardly compare the lifestyle in the United Kingdom to the life style here. There is a vast difference in the two lifestyles and indeed expectations either personal,family or peer wise.
Dying is a very dull, dreary affair. And my advice to you is to have nothing whatever to do with it.

Ooh how potentially riveting.
My sister breeds tapirs at the local zoo. She is also top admin on their net forum. When they were offered my opinions on my sisters choice of career, it was seen as a ludicrous waste of bandwidth, so I don't see why similar rules shouldn't apply here.

Well, can I put you right on one or two points. I don't think I "often" make out that my brother is unfortunate. He just has a very different lifestyle to me. In fact, he's just got another promotion overseeing all the Lloyds bank branches in the Central England region. You can imagine how stressful that job must be and you can imagine the kind of salary and perks that go with it. He lives his life at a hundred miles an hour and it's just not for me. He seems to thrive on it though.
But even I have no interest in what he thinks about my 'alternative TEFL lifestyle' so why should other people? Not that it's a TEFL lifestyle anyway. In truth, I haven't done a serious day's teaching for almost three years.
I'm going to side with DJ Pat on this one. The ajarn hot seat should always be for those in someway associated with the TEFL game. If I interviewed my brother, then we may as well do my grandmother as well. What's it like living alone in inner city Birmingham with a dicky hip?
