Thread: What's the stupidest thing you've done for a Thai?

Just thought of another 'Stoopid' thing I did for a Bar Girl I fell for, when I was very
new to Thailand.

I actually paid for her to go to Beauty School so that she could earn a decent living and stop F##king you lot! Hahahahahaa.....One born every minute eh?

...And another thing. When you have held the door open for a Thai, have they ever said "Thanks?".

Naw corse not! 'Cos day tink ya stoopid when ya doo dat!.

I know how you feel, David. Whenever I hold the door open for a Thai, they look confused, but I can't help it. Its my duty as an Englishman to educate the natives, old chap

They're wondering why you aren't wearing a doorman's uniform.

No, I think its because they've never seen anyone with manners before.

The other one is when you slow down on your Motorbike or Car to let a Pedestrian cross the road....They look at you suspiciously, frozen to the spot. Probably thinking.....
"Is he waiting for me to cross so that he can run me over?" .

The stupidest thing I did was think that a Thia man actually thought you as a friend and all that smiling was beacuse he liked you as a person. Wrong. He just wanted to try and cheat you for any money you may have.

A classic line from an old collegue is that he has been here 12 years and can count on 1 finger how many male Thais he has made friends with. The women he needs extra pairs of hands.

But it is simply polite to thank a person who holds open a door so that you may enter, and I have not had your happy experiences in that area.

Look. It's NOT a BIG DEAL. Just indicative of good manners. That's all.

Incidentally, I usually get doors slammed in MY Face.......by Thai people.
