My god, fist fights, Nazi/Hitler accusations, all over a national health care system which now they haven't even got. You French, Brits and Canadians must be laughing your asses off at our collective insanity. The crooks running the present system have convinced the citizens that socialized (oh the horror) medicine is bad for their health. And the damn fools are falling for it.![]()

Oh, I think the person at one of those "town hall" meetings made a great point. If the federal government can't even run a cash for clunkers program, what makes you think those clowns can run a national healthcare program that equates to roughly 1/7 of the US economy?
Obama's loyal fans will follow him right right into Hell. Then, when they get there, they'll blame the heat on global warming caused by Republicans.
The health industry shouldn't be 1/7 of the economy. The lawyers, lobbyists and other assort scoundrels have so perverted access to medical care in the States so as to make it a model of tragic absurdity.

My alternative universe...
Así pues, aquí estamos.
That doesn't mean it's a well-run program. It's swirling in the toilet bowl as we speak. I don't expect to enjoy it when I retire. Look, I know something needs to be done, but I'm just not convinced that this Clown in Chief is the person to do it.
Do you really think we can afford a national healthcare system without sacrificing quality? Are we prepared to tell elderly people their care may be denied because their life isn't worth as much as a child? I'm not saying these things would happen, I'm just asking the questions. As it stands now, we can't turn on a dime and just start providing healthcare for everyone. I wish we could, but the economic reality isn't that way.
You got that right.
It's the biggest thing about America that's always amazed me.
That and homeles living under bridges in the White House backyard.
Never understood that.
And still you can afford to be the world's policeman?
You're right, it's a source of "the curious" for western non-Americans.

A U.S. nationalized health care would be better for who? For illegal immigrants and poor legal immigrants yes. But nationalizing health care can not magically produce a great increase in resources and personnel to accomodate the resulting great increase in demand for free medical treatment, drugs, etc. The U.S. government already has trillions of unfunded obligations. It can only, as ever, take from some to give to others. Most medical expenses are incurred by old people. The elderly would have to receive less and poorer treatment in order to provide more and better treatment for the young. Nationalizing health can only end with greater costs and less quality. This has happened to all the nations that have socialized health care.
The government's inability to provided a viable national health care system is best demonstrated by looking closely at the poor and low quality service it provides to U.S. military personal being cared for in the government owned and run veterans' hospitals. The medicaltreatment there is well known to be a national disgrace.
The government's capabilities have already been tested through the disasterous manner it has administered social security and medicare and has been found incompetant. Social security is the biggest national expense and can not be sustained much longer. Medicare has cost far far more than expected and also cannot be sustained. These socialist programs are going broke. Americans are going broke because of them.
“Everyone carries a part of society on his shoulders; no one is relieved of his share of responsibility by others. And no one can find a safe way for himself if society is sweeping towards destruction. . . . What is needed to stop the trend towards socialism and despotism is common sense and moral courage.” Ludwig von Mises
Which maybe should be telling us and the government something outside the realm of rocket science.
Don't really by into that Papa. Canada does just fine though you will always hear some complaints.
I think it's more a matter of the greedy multi-nationals and national insurers using the old "run, it's the fucking reds argument"
America really must get by this.
After all, the American Taxpayer is already the largest shareholder in many huge corporations.
Ain't that socialism as well?![]()

Accumulating wealth or capital and investing that in shares or other to earn a profit from the income derived by sale of goods or services is capitalism. Then paying taxes on profits IAW U.S. tax codes.
But you can't be refering to that, are you? My guess is that you are referring to the government saying that the banks, auto industries and other private assets that have recently been nationalized belong to the taxpayer. Anyone who actually believes that probably can't be swayed by reason or facts. It is not reality.
Taxing Americans beyond that necessary to safeguard them and their property from internal and foreign threats certainly could be described as socialism. Taxation for the proper governemnt is necessary. Taxing for the purpose of taking money from some to enrich others is not the proper fucntion of government though it has always been associated with the State which also controls and provides goverment functions.
You lost me with the socialism shareholding connection.
Me for one. I was uninsured and cut my thumb. Nothing too serious but definitely needed stitches. 5 stitches, 1 hr. and $800 later I left the ER. That's absolute bullshit!
Nice one. Ya'll need to watch Sicko; it's a real eye opener on the load of bullshit being shoveled down the throats of ignorant Americans; and they're too damn lazy to find out the facts. It's so much easier to passively be fed shit.
Yeah, we don't want no spics, wops, kikes, or greasers messing with our country. Oh, and what tribe are you from? You are 100% native American Indian, yes?
Always got to be a boogey man doesn't there?
