On air, live he went on to tell the story. Now it's on Larry King and everywhere else. Spreading like the Michael Jackson story. Could he be fired over it?
Of course he did it in good ole' Letterman style. I thought it was funny. Sad it was all true though.

I don't watch his show and although I heard about the case, this is the first time I saw this clip. Victim or not, he told a story in a pretty decent way, no lies or BS. What I don't understand is how an intelligent experienced news reporter like Halderman could have expected this extortion to work? I don't get that part, unless he was an extremelly depressed person.
The whole thing is messy, stupid and ill conceived. AND, a package in his car?? That would scare me half to death if I was famous, and found a mystery box INSIDE my car at 6 in the morning? I would fire every security person that works for me. How the hell did it get in his car?

I've been avoiding this because I don't give a rats ass who Dave screws, it's none of anyone's business 'cept maybe his wife if they were together at the time. I hate to see this shit plastered all over the news! Thanks for posting that vid though AJF, glad I watched it after-all. Dave's always been a favorite of mine and the way he handled this is no exception. If only Bill Clinton had shown so much class!
Agreed. Handled it the only way he knows how. Rip it off like a band-aid.
"I'll be darned - Dave had sex!" Letterman is the man. He handled a horrible situation with class and style.
