I have the idea (unconfirmed, I could be wrong about that) that when I arrived here 4 years ago, the yellow shirt thing was just gaining momentum. My (not yet at that time) wife bought a set of matching yellow polo shirts at an inflated price, but I refused to wear mine. Yellow's not my colour, I don't wear polo shirts, and I have my own ideas about how much or how little I want to follow the crowd.
We went downtown, 4 years to this day, and a woman pushed her face into my (not yet at that time) wife's face and asked why I wasn't wearing a yellow shirt. Most people were, granted, but 10% were not. Why she had to single me out, I have no idea.
I digress. Today it's pink. Yellow's for Monday, the day of Elvis' birth, but pink is Tuesday. No connection with anything, except the colour of the shirt he wore leaving the hospital a while ago.
I've noticed that some of the flags along municipal roadways featuring his emblem have changed to a blue or purple background instead of yellow.
I'm guessing (only guessing) that the colour yellow has become too politically sensitive and partisan to use as a show of support for Graceland.
Pink is to do with the signs / astrology / mumbo jumbo of some thai priests a while ago, that told H.M. that pink was the colour of healing.
My next door neighbours have challenged me to a water fight , so I am just writing this while I am waiting for the kettle to boil .

The whole thing seems a bit primitive to me. I wonder if any Thai has had a moment of clarity and just laughed while thinking "what the fuck are we doing". Anyway, I am sure that genuine support, rather than a surface display, would be much more appreciated by the man.
Every society attempts to indoctrinate its citizens. Thailand, starting with the country's name, works harder than most to keep the sheep in lock step with the rest of the country. I was genuinely offended when asked to stand before the start of a movie at the local cinema. That's some heavy duty propaganda. Three cheers to the bloke who got that one started.
