I use it for communication more than I do email....simply because unlike my email my contacts are entirely people I know....the bells and whistles are best ignored, and can become a frivilous addiction....but groups and fanpages are entertaining enough. It's ubiquity is probably it's most killer feature now....eveyone is on there. Privacy settings can be tweaked to whatever you feel comfortable with....you don't even have to use your real name....though you may not grow a huge network this way.

Found lots of old friends through it and it's a handy way to share a few photos around, but most of the communication is very mundane.
Worth joining but I only check in if I get messaged by someone.
We could all sit outside on banana lounges discussing the best way to rebuild a 4WD transmission and agree, through shared stories of conquests supporting our assertions, that there is no basis to the proposition that those least assured of their persuasions are the first to condemn others for theirs.
I ind it's a more ready audience for the kind of blogging I used to do when in Thailand...ie sharing nonsense/nerdy links.
I like to see what my more successful far happier friends are doing....oh yes.....I love that!!!
