Hi Marcus,
You are right more marketing would be better...but that why i made Tiger/sachs Club...out of personal interest , and a thank you to tiger for their great service they gave. It is true you void your warranty when doing the "racing" tune-up. The tune up is btw not made by Tiger Motors but someone who has a little racing team (and also works at tiger motors).
I rode the boxer with and without windscreen...to be honest without screen i like it more specially in town and with the hot weather, but if you do some longer trips a windshield is great ..
here picture of my "ex" boxer..btw there is one for sale on tiger/sachs club250 RS , 1 year old and only 2300km for 60000 thb...the bike has custom paint and dunlop tubless tires...(can't post the link but pm me or check on the tiger sachs forum "bikers trading place" )
Happy trails,
Tiger/Sachs Club - Mbox
ps: sorry have to remove the images as i am not allowed to post them yet....

"i wanna ride you"
Here's what to do: Put an ad in a suitable place, Internet or weekly, ask 60,000 for your Tiger, although you don't yet own one, and see what response you get.
thats a good idea jd...but some will be upset if you try to sell something that you actually don't have/own a bike ....the buyer who bought my boxer actually tried to contact some seller who didn't respond and i was contacting him which resulted in meeting him 3 days later where my boxer was sold for 60000 thb cash. The boxer may not be the most sold bike but i found it is often being asked for second hand models.

Thanks for all the information, the cop across the street has one, the 200, but the gentleman at Tiger said it would be a very similar feel. I am going to try to take that out for a spin. I was on the Tiger/Sachs site last night but never noticed the ad, I'll check that out. Thanks.
JD that is a clever idea, one would know pretty quick.
marcus
Hi marcus, thats right i have ridden the policeboxer(200) first to get a feel and than ordered the Boxer 250 Rs.I also recommend this to others as the feel is quite the same- it just feels a lot better with the 250RS as not to look like a BiB :-)
You will need to enter the Tiger/Sachs forum in order to find the ad.. there is also a link on the leftside on each page saying "go to classifieds forum" you'll find it there from poster "starfruit13" or if you want i can send you the link by pm (am not allowed to post links or pics yet) let me know or pm me and will do so.

I like the MadAss 125, it's a cool little bike. What do they go for new?
Note for the dimensionally retarded: 6" = 150 mm

Sorry, that's a weak argument. I doubt a buyer would loose his cool if he found out the Tiger of his dreams was sold. The idea isn't to tell any respondents you were just testing the market. You would say, Sorry it is sold. Or, my best offer so far is 55,000, what's yours? That is if anyone responded.
As they say in the used car biz, "There's an ass for every seat" Eventually everything sells.
My observation: I have little doubt the Tiger is anything but a good bike. Sony Erricson is a good phone, try selling one to a Thai. Try selling the Suzuki Step to a Thai. Thais are nuevo consumers .. they are still in the stupid stage. They are brand name snobs and country or origin conscience. That should last another generation or three.
JD, i didn't bring this as an argument, but merely as my thought....you go ahead and do what you wish in order to establish what resale value a Boxer has....i know i sold my boxer 250RS with 10000km on the clock and 12 month old for 60000 thb and others ask for about the same price....some will get it ,some don't . Depends how well they negotiate and how well the bike was looked after. On Tiger/Sachs Forum i know at least of 2 people who are currently looking for a second hand Boxer ... seeing that there are not that many in circulation you sure find a buyer if you wish to sell a Boxer. Need to add that Thai's may not be the prospective buyer for Tiger or Sachs Bikes....
But there is a growing amount of Foreigners that do have interest in these bikes- which is likely be your buyer if you want to sell your Tiger or Sachs Bike.

I like to be proud of my bikes.
When I sit on it and fire it up, I want to feel pride.
I'm not going to have that on a Tiger.
I bought and sold 15 bikes in Thailand, none to a national. So the farang is the target market. The bikes I sold did at times have an interested Thai. Their offer was usually about 1/3 of the price I got from a foreigner. So lets say the Thai market is nonexistent, especially in the year of our Lord, 2010. I like your product. FYI the police department in Phun Phin Surat bought a small fleet of the 200cc. Good luck.
Well, which 250 cc bike ,legally available in LOS, will give you "real"pride? I did enjoy my Boxer but i sold it for a larger cc bike (750cc and legal) but i couldn't care less over brandnames if the bikes lives up the performance/comfort . Does a Yamaha , suzuki or kawasaki make you proud? or is it a harley, bmw, ducati or ktm? I like to ride many different bike( had 10 so far within 4 years from 200cc-1200cc) and i like most of the brands i just named ,but i don't turn my interest away from brands that i don't know and find that brandnames means really not that much to me, as long as the ride, performance(and service) is good...and if you look over many of mine (and others ) posts on gt-rider, thaivisa, secretsoi and tiger/sachs you can see that i done 1011km/day on this boxer with a friend who rode a 250 ninja nakwan/maesot/ umphang/maesot/nakwan ...but not only this trip, this was just the longest daytrip. No issues or problems and actually quite a lot of people who saw it the first time on the road interested in that bike....

This is a bit off-topic but I had to reply to the "pride" thing.
I've never felt "pride" in owning a particular marque of bike. Why would I - it's all someone else's work, not mine. I only paid the purchase price.
I've owned 8 Ducatis (before Thailand) dating from 1964 to 2004. Loved them all but never felt any "pride" EXCEPT where I'd restored a particular bike from a burned-out wreck to a concourse-winning machine that was also a hard-working touring machine. I felt no end of pride when I took that 35+ year old 250 Ducati more than 2000 miles around Ireland in less than 2 weeks, with a similarly-mounted mate, without it missing a beat. And thrashed it round the Isle of Man many a time. That bike was something to be proud of, believe me. (Bloody hell, I miss that bike )
I've had Hondas, Sunbeams, Morinis, BSAs, Suzukis, Yamahas, Laverdas, Triumphs, BMWs and now a Tiger in Thailand (which I bought to remind me of the little Duke). There are some "prestigious" brand names among that lot but, despite the desirable brand name, the only one I really hated was a BMW R80RS & I couldn’t get rid of it quickly enough. Conversely, my Tiger is great bike and I know it’s a far better bike on Thailand’s roads than a 1980 Ducati 900ss I once owned, never mind the nightmares of getting a bike like that serviced here. The BMW doesn't begin to compare with the Tiger, IMO.
So please don’t knock a bike because it has an unfamiliar name on the tank or because it’s small. If you haven’t already, try taking a small-engined bike on a long trip then maybe you’ll be able to take “pride” in the performance of yourself & your bike together, not just the badge name, because making good progress on the road on a small bike isn’t easy unless your riding skills are pretty good and the bike is in top-notch condition.
