For the past couple of weeks, while I have snuck away for a ciggie at work, I would see this small black cat. He seemed to be getting thinner and thinner. Until yesterday, I could bear it no longer and I asked the Thai labour at my school who he belonged to.....Nobody was the reply....Obviously he was starving to death. I pointed this out to them and they told me to either throw him over the wall or put him in the bin....No shit! Buddhism at its best...
I took him home.
Last night I named him Oscar and tried to feed him. Milk, water, fish, chicken...He wasn't interested. He did eat a cockroach though. I took him to the vets this morning and he was too far gone....Some crazy virus, malnutrition and severe dehydration. He passed away today......RIP Oscar, mate....
The tale does not finish there, the little bastard also scratched my finger, bringing blood. Now it's 5 rabies shots at B500 each and antibiotics .....
That's my tamboon for this year.....

^ sorry to hear about the rabies shots, and the loss of Oscare - but you did a very good thing. Oscar's last days was a decent one because you brought him to your home.
...but I'm not logical, and it was a black cat, stands to reason he's cursed.
The rabies shots well, the thing bit him, action and reaction, serves him right.![]()

i have a black cat. but then, my voodoo is strong...
I love cats.
"Take this, brother; may it serve you well."
Cats will always try to defy you. Dogs are dumb - they do as they are told, but yer average cat likes to negotiate stuff. I always imagine them speaking French.
dogs are actually quite clever... but they're fascists. dog owners need to realize this and give them a sense of order, a place in the pack... at the bottom, where they know what to do. if a dog thinks he's above anyone he'll be very frustrated that the dumb fuck doesn't follow orders. they're happier as lackeys. this fundamental truth about dogs led to my all time favorite rant on a dogs vs cats thread on another forum. i don't dislike dogs but i don't dislike stirring the pot either, so i took a very anti-dog position and claimed i was getting a pet Nazi (there was more to it than that, it was about 3 paragraphs, that's just the logline)...
I like dogs too of course, and I agree; there's a fundamentally different approach when dealing with dogs. But cats... Well, they tend to set their own agenda. It's quite disturbing. But then again - I am the guy with the tin-opener. King. Automatically.
See my tin-opener and weep, felines.
yeh. with a dog, if he fails to greet you at the door once, it's major insubordination. with fat thing, he makes it about 60 percent of the time, and i'd consider that under my thumb, by cat standards...
You're a good man, RH. I'm sorry that the story didn't have a happier ending.
We have a black cat that we adopted as a stray kitten about 5 months ago. When the misses arrives home, he runs out of the garden to meet her. He hides in the hedges and jumps out and grabs my legs when I walk past.
Note for the dimensionally retarded: 6" = 150 mm

Sad to see so many strays, both cats and dogs in Thailand.
They are usually in terrible condition.
Robin, better you get rabies shots, because you don't want to be sick either.
