I must agree. There are plenty of Issan villages that would welcome a missionary family in their midst. Problem with that is that the family would actually have to live in Issan. I didn't agree with your earlier appraisal of the working girls' plight being over-dramatised, ie many of them are from Isaan and have little or no formal education and are easy prey to the unscrupulous. The teddy bear image rings true as well- I've seen many girls with small dolls and teddy bears attached to their backpacks and swinging from their mobile phone straps. But this quote is not far from the mark. They say they want to help, but will they go out to the villages and speak passa Isaan and eat bugs and put up with questionable plumbing and sanitation conditions, or will they, as you suggest, get a few monied Christians to fund everything (including their airfare! WTF?) so the wife can live closer to her mom?
