In jomtien for our last long weekend, and fancied just sitting with a book and a beer on the beach. I had not brought a book with me, and couldn't find an English book shop, so I got a few newspapers...
Let me give you some examples of the headlines...
"Residents shocked as Mcdonalds opens in walking street"
"corrupt policing by traffic police"
"Bouys have sharp barnacles"
And then there qwas a whole page dedicated to a thread on teak door, discussing whether jomtien was a clean beach (if think that was it anyway)...
they actually gave a post by post break down of all that was said and by who.. "then dirty dog made a swift come back by saying.. 'i wouldn't bloody swim in it'.
What absolute rubbish!!!!
^but oh so entertaining....the journalistic standards are so low that a blind gerbil could cut it as an intrepid reporter on one of Pattaya's venerable newspapers. I personally love em, can't get enough of the 'stories'.

All hail the mighty Pattaya!
What sort of loon would expect high journalistic standards from papers covering Pattaya.
Certainly the 'Pattaya Mail' has no pretensions about its status. Some of the language used to describe the saucier stories is hilarious.
Their coverage of last weeks Connect 4 Open on Walking Street was a bit sparse though.
Get a stack of Pattaya papers, camp out in some Beach Rd outdoor cafe and watch the circus go by ... that's heaven.
