Some schools will be postponed from Dec 6 to Dec 13. They've scheduled schools opening Dec 6th for Saturday classes but if you are postponed again, you'll have to work Saturday AND every Subday for about a month.
Anyone bummed about this?
I've been trapped so long I really don't care. I just want to be able to drive outside again.
we're dragging it out into March and replacing all those meaningless not-quite-summer-school courses with regular programming. Saturdays, i'll still be able to wake up at 1 pm in a puddle of my own vomit if i choose (if not, i can like, stay up all night and totally maraud on World of Warcraft, dudes and dudesses).

It does to the schools. I believe they have to have classes for at least six months of the year.
My school said we will work until April something and work every Saturday. We start in January.
Government schools in areas like Don Muang are screwed, so, also Saturdays but they'll have to push it back to Dec 13, that means Sundays also for a month.
Saturday class is a given. So both my wife and I will be working Saturdays.
Schedule unknown as usual in Thailand. I'll know when I get there.
And of course, my school has already jumped in the bandwagon with the whole "Big Cleaning Day" schtick.
It doesn't matter anyway since they will all pass whether they have classes or not. It just that all schools must have a certain number of class days, not that it matters anyway. I can give them their final grade now if they want me to. What difference does it make.
What a charade. My school is starting on a FRIDAY. That's right. First day after this on a FRIDAY, with a whole school "welcome back" activity bullshit planned.

I say let's just show up 1 week before the end of semester and they can all turn in the usual copy/paste Power Point. Give grade - pass - graduation ceremony - done. See you next year.

That's what happens whether you phone it in or do your best. Whether students study or not. Doesn't matter. It all turns out the same in the end. I do my best to put in a good show during the year. I think when we come back I'll start wearing a squeaky nose and really big red shoes and keep telling the Thai admin that I'm the best. I'll be teacher of the year.

Thailand corrupts on every single thing, except letting Falangs collect a paycheck without being at the school. They hate that. If they could have an excuse to have us all sleep in the school next year they would. Don't teach Saturday's and put in the paper work that you did. Will it make a difference? No, but Falangs and the Thai slaves got way too much time off. Time to suffer.
