I am not a number. I am a free man.
We could all sit outside on banana lounges discussing the best way to rebuild a 4WD transmission and agree, through shared stories of conquests supporting our assertions, that there is no basis to the proposition that those least assured of their persuasions are the first to condemn others for theirs.

    1. The copy and paste scholars. These guys like, Tomcat and Papa, seem to have an opinion on almost every topic, however their opinions almost always seem to the opinions of others. Maybe they do this because they cannot put together a string of words on their own or maybe it is because they lack the ability to come up from an original thought on their own. They often provide as “proof” of the correctness of their opinions “links” as if anything put on the internet is gospel truth.

    2. The whiners. These jokers seem to feel “Thailand” and the ESL industry owe them a higher level of a lifestyle than they currently have obtained. Usually the only qualification these jokers have is the ability to speak their native language and maybe completed a quickie non-accredited 4 week wonder course taught by instructors with few qualifications in addition to those already obtained by the students, who got suckered into the program. The jokers constantly whine about how they are not treated like royalty by their Thai colleagues and managers of their schools despite their white faces and diplomas from Bruce’s 4 week wonder school of English teaching. They are also known to threaten "Thailand" by claiming to be going to leave if their demands are not met. Do Thai school officials often quake in their boots over these threats by the whiners?

    3. The lifer/elitist TEFLer. These posters are desperate for acknowledgement of their “professional’ status. They put down anyone with a lower standard of qualification then they have, whatever that level is. These guys, despite being paid less than an assistant night shift manager at a Burger King back home, insist they are real “teachers” and a slice above the rest of the backpackers and other riffraff. These posters are most likely to poo-poo any qualification that comes from Thailand or any institution that is “below” the standards of their own “elite” qualifications.

    4. The Newbies. Most newbies have fallen in love with Thai culture, but are still in the tourist state where everything is exotic and new. Often because they have learned to say Sawaidee Krap and perform a wai they believe they are experts on Thai culture. While irritating, they are far more pleasurable to read than the copy and paste scholars, whiners or lifers.

    5. The sexpats and backpackers. These guys rarely add anything of interest, but they do once and awhile provide a funny link or joke. They also know where to buy the cheapest western food on Kao San or around Nana (not sure though who this information would be of help to).

    6. The intelligent and rational poster. These are rare and seemingly becoming rarer by the day. These posters are usually those not in the TEFL industry, although the occasional poster making a living doing nothing more challenging than standing in front of foreigners and speaking the language one was taught by his mother had fallen into this category in the past. Although now that specific type of these specimens might have fallen into extinction. These few remaining intelligent and rational posters have been known to occasionally have an original idea and also have the ability to string together a few words in order to express that idea. Seems to be a dying breed here on Ajarn and the other Thai related forums.
I'm not sure which one I am, but I'm sure this guy's on to something.

I cannot make that designation as I am biased about myself.

I choose the ceiling vent and bypass the doors.

wouldnt be surprised if rob and albert were somehow related...

should be noted that albert recently joined just about every thailand forum (teakdoor, thaivisa, etc.).

never thought rob was a "real" poster. who the hell uses a profile picture where they are posing with half a jar of gel in their hair...on a freakin' all male teaching forum.

some good points there samsara. And this new post seems like some extra editing efforts on Rob's original blog.

i didn't think old rob was such a bad egg, though the scarf around the neck did indicate a certain, how you say, lack of sartorial wotsit. well the 'my old china' patter got a bit naff too. but hey, like anna's van heusen period, we can't all pop out of the womb all ubercool and dashing like myself now can we.

So valuable contributors like the op here could get past 20 posts before the forum figured out that they are tossers...and because the mods and admin don't like us posters doing their job for them...
