    God Bless Grammar Slobs

My ex is a grammar slob. She's L2 and that saves her from criticism. Another reason she doesn't have to take shit for it is that she doesn't call herself an English teacher, nor did she ever attend university. She owns a couple of beauty shops and serves the rich old money blueheads. They don't mind her grammar slobbery at all. Whereas to me she sounds like a tattooed inmate on death row, ya know what I'm sayin?

I like accents and grammatical flubs by foreigners and especially foreign students. It's charming is some strange way, don't you think?

If you're educated in an English-speaking nation and never gave a shit how you sound to other people I have to ask, what else don't you give a shit about? Do you brush your teeth, bathe?

Grammar is very much of a play thing, AFAIK....

There aren't any hard and fast rules for those wishing to experiment.

I'd never, ever, consider using a grammar checking function apparatus.

You're grammar sounds pretty good for the most part.

Although you haven't reached the stage where you can seriously play with it that much.

    Few ever do.

On a forum, who cares too much about grammar..take 8ball for instance.

Grammar nazis get under my skin..as do people such as yourself who think they are perfect.

Never thought I was perfect, just slightly above a Canadian turnip farmer. And it's easy to see why anything accomplished by anyone would get under your skin. Do you brush your teeth and bathe?

TBH I never knew what it was till I learned about it as I acquired Spanish. They use it more than we do.

The grammatical slobbery you are talking about is really just the difference between prescribed and described grammar. Prescribed grammar shows us the rules that have been formulated and written down (the sort found in ESL text books)... described grammar is the much more important form, as it is the grammatical rules that form naturally within a population.

It IS grammatically correct to say... "she were going to the shops"... "how am ya?"... "aint got no clothes".

In any dialect you will find distinct grammatical rules that will follow almost universally between people in that group. It is not random in any way.

JD has a quaint way of confusing style with grammar.

Could you clarify "rules that follow between people"?

    ^^

That doesn't explain the cognitive slap on the head bad grammar caries with it. Hey, talking about rules, anything mutually understood is language.

Well if language is art it has rules and norms. If language usage and its cognitive voltage is nothing more than style then, you me love much much I wife you you pay you no go till I sick of you should be in the teen language mainstream soon..
