I don't think it's an urban myth; there are a lot of stupid, terrified Americans out there.

Looking back on it, I'm actually very grateful that I come from such humble beginnings. When I worked in the UK, one of the profs on staff was a member of the Peerage and the son of an Oxbridge prof; the pressure he must have felt to prove himself must have been tremendous, and sadly his academic career never reached the heights of his father's (although he did some wonderful work, IMO).

I'll say Hicksville Long Island.

Oh yeah but he did give NYC as a hint. Jeez, I won't rest till I get this sorted.

Loads! Drive N,E,S or W and sooner or ladder you'll hit about a hundred of them. Dood, all those farming communities in the Central Valley are redneck, Bakersfield, Riverside, Fresno, Merced, Modesto, Stockton, Redding .... eeeee hah!!!!! The Pacific Coast is the only safe real estate.
