Jill Stein... who she?
That's a really, really hard question. On paper, I should be the left of the left--bisexual writer in a mixed-race marriage living in NYC--but I think the left is fundamentally wrong on a lot of things because of a naive or anti-rational perspective. Environmentalism is usually woefully short-sighted (let's ban fracking so that we have to import energy from China where environmental standards are a million times lower). Feminism is antagonistic, self-serving, and self-consciously irrational (all men are potential rapists and how dare you call me a girl but yes please pick up the check). Post-modernism denies the fact that science and the empirical method are what made post-modernism--and all the conveniences that po-mo theorists enjoy on a daily basis--possible. Neo-colonialists forget that India and even China were hellholes before the west got involved and at least started to clean things up. I could go on.
That said, I side with Obama 85% and Jill Stein 79%. Unsurprisingly, I'm in lock step with most NY voters (89%).
