Why don't you use the occasion to actually say something interesting?

in each and every case you'd have to look at the post it refers to and uh... see what the poster did. really, Russ, it's not that complicated.

I perfectly understand that, of course.

    .................................................. ............

    The expression almost sounds regional.....

or maybe a "new age techie-speak thingy".

Anyway, I would say, so far as this forum is concerned, you own that expression.

    That's it man.

No ulterior motives, etc, etc. etc...

you say "of course" as if you perfectly understand it, but i see no evidence that you do. let's face it, russellsimpson. whether it's been deliberate* or not, your track record for demonstrating a mastery of the obvious isn't exactly world class... or even Prathom 5 class...

if it's regional it's Mancunian btw. 'twas a Manc i stole it from. does that mean you're now inadvertently attempting to condescend toward the very English whom you cherish? or worse, that you don't consider northerners truly English?

    * i'm one of the ones who thinks you do it on purpose, remember.

    ---Update---

I had to check that out.

    Mancunian..........

    ---Update---

My preference is for what I think is called Estuary English.

That accent is definitely different than the Liverpool accent. And again different from the accent up in Durham Country.

    I beg to differ.

But am aware that there are many much more aware of the obvious than myself.

It is a short-falling. Not an area of great strength.

    Point conceded.

    Bye the way, thank you.

That was all I was asking.

    No condescension.

But I do feel a great closeness to the British.

...all my Uncles and aunts were British.....that might explain it.

    I won't apologize.

I am a British citizen, and do have a high respect for the monarchy.(together we stand and all that innit and eh).

I'll close up with a reference to that comment.

Actually I do not do these things on purpose, just soing that you can be assured of that.

    .......................

Anyway, its the multiple nic stuff that usually affects my seeming comprehension/or otherwise.

There are a lot of things I will do....

As for trying to keep track of who is who under what name on here and on other fora..

    No thanks.....

    could never go there.

it's kind of creepy tbh. and i'm someone who has a strange tendency to hang out with Mancs, watch League of Gentlemen, care about (that means aboot in Canadian) lower league football, and i even have pommy ancestors. sort that sirrah. please. it's uncomfortable for the rest of us. i suspect, especially the poms.

for once, sirrah, you and i are actually on the same page. i try to treat each lame incarnation of the same old forum addict as a new person until they make it impossible to see them differently. and then, i'm usually in denial for a while. i remain absolutely convinced, for example, that i'm NOT zehner.
