BANGKOK: -- When Angela Carnegie made the disastrous decision to smuggle heroin from Thailand, she had no idea how much worse her life could get.
After being caught at Bangkok airport, she was sentenced to life in a Thai prison in 1993 - where she was forced to eat rotting food teeming with maggots, sleep next to prisoners with leprosy and survive without running water.
Carnegie, from Chicago, was in her twenties and had just broken up with a serious boyfriend. Feeling vulnerable, she decided to take up a friend's offer for some quick cash by bringing a suitcase lined with drugs back to the U.S.
Thai officials spotted her immediately at the airport and she was arrested. She sentenced to life at the infamous 'Bangkok Hilton' prison.
Her experiences have been chronicled on National Geographic show 'Locked Up Abroad,' a series about inmates who have endured the hardships of foreign prisons.
'The conditions were very crowded, dirty, and unsanitary,' Ms Carnegie said of her experience on her Facebook page.
'We showered outside rain or shine, often times standing in floating sewage which overflowed from the sewage canal that ran all around the edge of the prison.'

Looks like she could have done with eating a few less maggots. It is very odd, I would have thought that in a Bangkok prison the one thing you would come away with is a slim build. Really, fat fuckin bitch must have been munching on everything from that shop they have AND the fuckin maggots.

That picture was apparently taken after she had been 3 years inside the Bangkok Hilton. Some bloody maggots, those.
Reminds me of a story my (late) dad used to tell many years ago about his rather large sister (my aunt) visiting the doctor:
Doctor (to fat aunt): You ought to diet and lose weight. Much better for your health.
Aunt: Oh, I've tried so many times, doctor, but you see it's my metabolism. I simply can't do anything about it. I hardly have anything to eat really.
Doctor (who had been in the army and was a tad brusque): I didn't see any of the inmates of Belsen coming out looking like you, poor metabolism or not.
Aunt (horrified): What was that?
Of course the doctor was absolutely right and Dad and we children used to cackle about the story regularly. Put the aunt right in her place. She absolutely stuffed herself but lived in denial.
She should've stashed the heroin in her fat rolls.
I saw that three nights ago. I liked the part where the girls kicked her ass for showing her foot bottoms. Bet she didn't do that twice. She didn't eat bowls full of maggots. They're in the rice but she picked them out, apparently. Wouldn't you? Just like a Mexican jail .. they hold you as long as the bribes/funds keep coming in. Trick is to never write home for money. They read your letters, they know it's coming. Then they escort you to the bank or already have your bankcard, and of course, it doesn't take much to get your pin.
