She makes some valid point, but in a pretty ruthless way.
For example, people can bitch about the ultra-rich...but what would happen if they did just pick up stakes and leave?
People would be more fucked.
And some of her points at their most basic seem logical; work more, smoke and drink less, etc, to become more successful.
But most will NEVER become as successful as her, and some will not even be able to manage their own affairs...no matter what. That's life.
And fuck she is ugly.![]()
Well, in the American context some of the ultra rich are heading for places like Singapore or opting for Austrian citizenship (that allows for taxation based on residency rather than citizenship).

And from what I gathered Australians have the option to renounce citizenship and also have taxation based on residency.
In a general sense I think if some of Australia's billionaires wanted to deprive Australia (i.e. the Australian people) of some streams in taxes they could. And that's just one thing I'm sure they could get up to if they got their ass up.
Again, I don't agree with the woman on all points, but I recognize that some of what she is saying is true.

Well I was talking more about moving their operations elsewhere, which I also think she was suggesting. Anyhow becoming a foreign citizen makes things tricky for her beacuse then her holdings become foreign owned and subject to another set of regulations. Rupert Murdoch is the only major Australian tycoon to renounce citizenship and that was to gain access to the US market (I think).

Ah understand.
I guess she could move some operations elsewhere, and gain some advantage there...but also lose some other advantages. I'm sure the billionaires would know better than us.
In any case, I imagine with that sort of wealth...if a billionaire wanted to "make a statement" they could really fuck things up...even if they were to lose money. It's probably best to squeeze billionaires to benefit the greater good, but not so much that it alienates them or makes them turn on you.
