best food i had in Thailand was the fried fish at the beach. Perch and there was another one. I forget the thai names now.

^Yeah, she always had some good eats. She was re-doing it when i left.
It's really nice now. I ate there for more than a decade.
Theres a couple of good beach restaurants out along the beach road towards banphe.
They have the fish tanks and you choose which fish you want. bit spendy by thai standards but worth it
I've only had it a few times, but I love the fried shredded catfish served with somtam. I think it's called yum pla duk foo.

it is indeed called yam pla duk foo, though it is served with a a spicy/sour mango salad thing, rather than som tam

Thailand has the boniest fucking fish I've ever had the displeasure of consuming.
I've picked more bones out of a small Thai fish than out of a ten pound trout.
And...they taste like mud.
Boney and muddy....that was my take away.
Mind you...this was probably not at hi-so fish specialty places.
Never could figure that out.
