I'm absolutely not renowned. I published a few articles, and my field proceeded to ignore those articles. My first book wasn't with a prestigious publisher, and I never finished my second. Yes, I was an academic, but so what? I've known plenty of academics to whore around, get in bar fights, and do plenty of other things that other people do.
Academics can usually get down and dirty. But it's rare for a true "down and dirty" to ever be able to call themselves an academic.
And so how is the depression treating ya?
