Not just poor service, rude service. It's something you get used to in Hawaii. They probably didn't get a lot of Haole (whites) in that bar so I'm sure they didn't miss our future business too much.
Hawaii opened my eyes to what it's like to be a minority and to be discriminated against. Discrimination is not rampant but it is present. Being from Alabama I'd never experienced it and it helped expand my world view and certainly changed my outlook on life in a positive way.
