I think the answer will be very different depending on whether the person is male or female. If a man makes the announcement, many people will think sex, child prostitution, transsexuals...when a woman says it, they probably think beaches, parties, and backpacking.

I never really told them. I'd already been gone for years and years before Thailand. But when I came home is when all Hell broke loose. It seems Thailand is famous for teen hookers and drugs. Odd.
