The way I see it is Thais are criticized not for being poor, not for being rural, but for how they deal with their poverty. There are places where the people are even poorer but don't turn their daughters out. Just an opinion. No, don't bother, I know not all Thais are poor enough to fit the mold. And then there is the matter of drugs and police corruption and how they treat inmates and animals and women in general. Then you have the governmental bullshit, the overthrows, the riots and all.
