I'm bored of the holidays...but too lazy to do anything productive!

Weird. I am bored of the holidays but am too lazy to do anything productive. I find that having nothing to do makes me rather apathetic to most things. Anyone else find this? For example, there is so much that needs to be done in the garden yet I know full well I won't to anything about it!

...deny yourself any pleasurable activity until all chores are completed: no alcohol until the garden is weeded; no self-pleasuring until the bushes are pruned; no diddling of significant other until the grass is cut; no posting on Ajarn.net until the new flowers are put in...etc....

Go for a trip on a bicycle or motorcycle. Breathe in some fresh air.

I've been doing that all month, but I won't get paid for any of my work till the end of the month...won't change things much though; I'll still be poor...

Why is it that teachers in Thailand get paid monthly? Is is that way with every profession here? In Americaland one gets paid weekly or bi-weekly.

I was paid fortnightly for my language school work, monthly from my school and weekly for my private work.

Do you not have any savings?

My language school work is paid monthly just like my school work. I had some savings when I arrived in Thailand but it's dwindled considerably. The goal now is to create more savings. Haven't done so yet. Hence the uneventful October holiday.

...the swamp is not the place to save money...many salaries are far too low to allow saving any more than a pittance for a holiday at a local beach...I know we've had many stories from folks who live under rocks and dine at the 7-11, but I wonder if that's a sustainable lifestyle...

well i'm paid monthly so technically earning money while I sit on my ass.

While it's boring sometimes I need to have the break from constant teaching. My first long holiday in 3 or 4 years thanks to the difference between international and national school holidays.
