Feeling nostalgic tonight/this morning, so I thought I'd wade in. You don't mind, do you?
I miss:
Logic
(the concept of) Customer service
TV
People with some form of critical thinking
Real food
The ability to complain
Books
Staff who can do their jobs
So anyway, feel free to add your own...

There are few problems in life that cannot be solved with toast.
One of them, however, is opening a can of corned beef with that stupid key. This cannot easily be done at the best of times, and toast is of surprisingly little use in resolving the issue.
Rayong
chaotic Asian traffic
indecipherable banter
thunderstorms and lightning
Bravo Company
A good list. I'll remove TV and add a theatre. One with English films, any film with English subtitles. I miss the art house cinemas.
Along the same lines: symphony, plays, concerts, art shows, museums.
"While Jim is milking the Russian Boar, I'm in the shade of a Baobab tree being served a cool drink by a beautiful young indigenous girl. "
Marlin Perkins
Aloha - Aloha HARD
A Relief. YR The Cowboys. 1986-98

YD Canteen on E/T refs.
Being part of a family. A fucking real family, way more valuable than blood relations.
I miss it, but not in a negative way. Life moves on. That's what makes it fun.

"Take this, brother; may it serve you well."

Mom
Dad
Sis
Owning a hotrod
Car sex
Alpine skiing
The ferry ride from Surat to Koh Samui
Band rehearsals
About half the stuff Willie misses, especially interesting people.
I don't miss my Mum. That's weird 'cos I loved her to bits - but I've not 'missed' her since she died. That was a real surprise, a good surprise, because I thought I'd be wrecked. She's sort of always there all the time, if you get my drift,
Nice trick, Mum!
...a good shoe store...
...informed customer service...
...artichokes...
...majestically enthroned amid the vulgar herd...
My family
the food
freinds
summer mornings on the English coast
my local
the air not smelling of klong
Yes, that's pretty cynical on its face, IMO. A bit surprising actually.
That said; long term here isn't a walk in the park (so-to-speak) for us westerners. On some levels I can relate to all the posts, but all in, there are many benefits.
