tomcat - Caesar's Italian Restaurant, 69th Floor, Dusit Thani Hotel.
Recommended by an old flame, but curiously never before visited, I took the opportunity of enticing SD away from our usual Thonglor/riverside haunts for an enchanting evening at this well known downtown eatery that specialises in southern Italian cuisine.
Eschewing the window tables with panoramic views over Lumpini Park, SD and I opted for a cosy candlelit corner. The piano twinkling on the other side of the room was just the right side of unobtrusive. SD, recovering from a hard day's work, and not usually one for live music, commented how nice it sounded - a surprising accolade!
I started with arancini al funghi - the wild mushrooms are flown in daily - and I'm glad I did. SD's gnocchi con carciofi e noci looked heavenly.
For mains I had pasta primavera, done to perfection I might add, served with freshly grated pecorino romano on the side, and SD had farfalle siciliano.
We sipped on Pier delle vigne 1992, not cheap at 490 Baht a glass, but SD was on expenses, so we ordered 2 bottles - a pleasing, complex bouquet with well rounded, velvety tannins.
After I'd cleaned my plate SD was still playing with his pasta, so I decided to visit the ablutions. Roomy, clean, cool and with a scent of jasmine in the air. I immediately noticed the liquid soap was Chanel Number 5 - my favourite. Immaculately groomed seat warmers are employed to take the chill off the mahogany - a nice touch.
Returning to our table the plates had been cleared and we finished the evening with one or two glasses of of rosenoce - an exquisite blend of rose petals, walnuts, cloves and cinnamon infused with Malvasia Emiliana, an understated dry white from Emilia Romagna.
B5200 for two. One for a special occasion. We'll be back.

DJ Pat - For as long as anyone can remember I have been giving ajarnforum posters all the inside gossip on my life, my loves, my best gigs and more than occasionally helping them come to terms with their existence with my wise words of wisdom that I have accrued through shagging students and reading Thaivisa forum.
For quite some time now I have detected a lack of understanding from my readers, it's become almost as if nobody gives a shit about me. I want you all to know that I'm trying to help you in your daily lives, I realise you aren't all as talented, handsome and worldly as I am. One thing I have never been is vain or resentful of the normal folk, that is why I have carried this torch for you guys all this time.
I think a time has come now though, when I must say that enough is enough. Either you guys start showing me a bit of respect or I'm going to save all my wise words for pissed up uni girls who don't know any better. Let's have a poll: do you love me or not? If so much as one of you everyday loso street people has the nerve to vote "no" you will spoil this forum for everyone as I shall permanently remove myself. I will check the votes every 30 seconds (not 'cos I'm vain) and you will know my decision soon enough.
