Help Non B in Bangkok???

Assuming that all of your paperwork is in order, is it possible to have a 30 day visa changed to a non imm B in Bangkok?

I had always been under the impression that one must leave the country and apply for the non imm B at a Thai embassy. My current employer is telling me I will be able to do so at Soi Suan Phlu.

Anyone have any experience with this at Soi Suan Phlu immigration?

Re: Non B in Bangkok???

Its possible to change from a tourist to a non-b at Suan Phlu. Go to room 303 (don't talk to the staff downstairs!) and get a list of the current paperwork requirements.

Re: Non B in Bangkok???

^ A 30 day stamp isn't a tourist....they're both convertible...but should (must?) have at least 21 days left on them (although if they don't and the Imm off is willing they can extend so you do have that time left on it).

You'll probably need something from the MoE or Labor to say you'll definitely be getting TL/WP (depending on your type of employer).

We're doing one right NOW!!!
-----
Edit...we've just been to the MoE and there is changes afoot....as it's a bit up in the air at the moment you may want to check....I'm getting the impression conversions are going to be harder now (although it seems the overall process may...may be easier (less peeps involved).

Not sure as the English translation is pants! Will update as and when I know!

Re: Non B in Bangkok???

OK. Thanks for the info. I'll be in room 303 on Monday morning and let you know how it goes. I do not have 21 days left on my w30 unfortunately.

As i am only in this situation as a result of a local immigtaion officer misunderstanding the new requirements for TLs and the exemption of said requirements for uni jobs, hopefully they'll have some mercy. (ha!)

It's a government uni so I hope that will work in my favor.

Re: Non B in Bangkok???

pm loxley, he just did it.

From what I remember, he needed:

* Contract from the school
* Letter from the local education zone
* CV
* Degree certificate
* Photos

KK's right, there must be at least 21 days left on the visa.

Re: Non B in Bangkok???

The photos must be larger than passport photos (6 x 4), you can get them opposite the centre...also you should take photcopies of your degree and CV as well as the originals

and you will be laughing
