Aranyaprathet?
Alright - another bright one!
I for [1] didn't correctly read my visa from the consulate, and for [2] didn't notice the stamp placed behind the departure card which was stapled on my passport...
Result: Assuming that I had a 90 days, I am off by 11 days..........
I have been browsing the net for 7 hours about the Thai "visa run" epopee …
Laborious delays, long travels, I am then opting for Aranyaprathet.
I came across those guys, and will give them a call in a couple of hours thaivisarun.com/map.htm
If anyone has a better suggestion - please do not hesitate!
Thank you!
-----
I just came across this one:
Malaysia doesn't require a visa contrarely to Cambodia which can be a real pain to get in and out of [?]
"Kota Bharu - Malaysia -
Overnight sleeper train from Bangkok (Hualampong) to Sungai Kolok cost approx 650 Baht. Sungai Kolok station is short walk to immigration (border) or tuk-tuk / taxi is approx 30 Baht. Walk through Thai immigration show passport and departure card then walk over a bridge go through Malaysian immigration and then take a taxi to Kota Bharu approx 300 Baht (there is a currency exchange next to immigration in what appears to be a Fujicolour shop). Thai consulate - 4426 Jalan Pengkalan Chepa, Kota Bharu, Kelantan. Several guesthouses around Kota Bharu many aimed at backpackers. Note - Very strong Muslim population it is necessary to be respectful and women should dress modestly, also alcohol is difficult to obtain and expensive! Return journey can be booked in travel agency in Kota Bharu or take a taxi back to Sungai Kolok and buy train ticket before boarding (slightly risky as trains may be fully booked, there is accommodation in Sungai Kolok)."

Re: Aranyaprathet?
you can go to aranya-poipet to get the 30 days. this can be done in under 12 hours
if you go to malaysia you are looking at a 3 day roundtrip

Re: Aranyaprathet?
Yes, Cambodia is easy to go in and out of. You just get the Cambodian visa at the border. Can be a bit annoying with all the tossers offering to get the visa for you and I personally never liked going with the arranged tours because I would rather pay 300 baht for a bus with more legroom and 1000 baht for the visa, than 2000 baht to be stuffed in the back of a minivan (visa included)
If it is your first time though, then it will probably be easier to go with a service like that.

Re: Aranyaprathet?
Go to Sungai Kolok during Songran to get your visa. I spent 3 days there last year for Songran and had probably my best time ever in Thailand. There were not many farang there and everyone treated me great. Offered me food and beer everywhere I went. Even got to throw water on a cop hahaha and not get in trouble. Just don't throw water on any Muslims.

JG used to go to Aranya, but they go to a new, quieter border now and it's a bit shorter of a ride. I can't remember the nmae of the town, but JG's web site should show it.

Re: Aranyaprathet?
Thank you HVC for your PM and all others for your feedbacks.
I called this agent this AM, thaivisarun.com/map.htm which told me to rush to BKK Immigration Office, and sounded judicious… as I am not into corruption, hippie trips or bordellos...
I arrived and explained my situation, i.e. exit stamp hidden behind the card, misleading validation on the consulate’s visa, including medical bills and 3 x visits to the hospital demonstrating my overstay, one Doctor appointment after the visa’s validity, and also my wish in staying longer for employment purposes.
But that didn’t do it – I paid 6900 Baht, and off I went with a 30 days extension.
One must have a sick mind to staple a blank exit card on an entry/exit stamp!!!!!
From now on I should never hear any Thai complaining about foreigners' bad behaviors.
The Immigration Officer didn’t hide her emotion when realizing that the stamp was hidden behind the card, as she could not find it herself and immediately removed the card to staple it onto the other page.
Apologies? NO!
Racketed by the Thai Immigration Bureau? YES!
To sum it up and to do the math, I paid 1900 BHT for a 30 days extension, when actually Agents guaranty anyone a 60 or 90 extension for a total cost of 2000 BHT round trip AND meals included.
I wasn't raised that way but count me in if next time ~ !
PS - Happy Songkran to all Thai Immigration Officers reading this.

Here we go, it's never your fault. You should post this on another well known thai forum. It's full of tales-of-woe about the ineptitude and unfairness of Thai immigration officials.
The bottom line is it's your responsibility to know when your visa expiration, if you can't manage that you shouldn't be allowed to travel.

That wasn't part of the plan. Try the phone no. I gave you the next time. Lots of Filipinos use this service so it's a bit cheaper than 2k too.

Space, it won't be long before somebody comes along to tell you that you're a guest here. Only guests don't pay tax, at least not in the UK.

When I applied at the consulate is asked for a 90 days stay and was answered "no PB we will give you 90 days..."
When I picked up my passport in read a stamp on it prompting April 28th.
Because I applied for my visa on January the 28th, I logically assumed that it equaled to a 3 months stay.
I DIDN'T SEE THE SMALL PRINTS ABOVE SAYING "enter before"
The matter fact is that you need a magnify glass to read them!
When at the airport, not a word from the lady, she kept the passport for 2 minutes and mechanically gave it back with a card stapled on a page.
The card overlaped an old exit stamp from the US dated 2003...
Wile anticipating my visa extension, and 18 days before its assumed expiration, I started to "investigate" my passport...
I always disregarded the card before, because nothing was printed on it besides the entry stamp, actually you can only read half of the stamp.
(She didn’t only maliciously stapled the card over the expiration stamp, but she was also saving on ink…)
Back to business, moving the card which over lapsed a 5 years old stamp, I noticed a blue line; I then pull the card and do so I had to pull on the staple, and realized that the bitch at the airport HAD STAPELED THE CARD OVER THE VISA EXPIRATION STAMP!!!!!!!!
Perhaps would you like to meet with me somewhere in Bangkok, and look at the 2 holes from the staple punching the stamp?!
******Threats of violence deleted. That is not kosher on this forum.***********
I paid 5000 Baht in fine and WHERE IS THE FREAKING RECEIPT??????

Don’t patronize me with “you should” – “you are”.
I post whatever whenever where ever! Is that crystal?

A good friend of mine had secured me a 90 days extension, but to do so I had to travel to Laos.
The whole deal would have cost me 15.000 Baht, fine included.
Because of the Sonkran I decided to take it easy and to do a 30 days in 60 minutes only, at Lumpini and using the MTR...
I am not sure if I want to stay in Thailand, the CORRUPTION thing gets on my nerve, for real!
Ok - That's all folks - and now out of Ajarn.

What do you want a receipt for? This isn't VAT that you can claim back. You got the job done, paid the fees and now you are free from worry.
Is there still a problem?
