Tomcat Eats OutThe best restaurant reviews. Mainly by Tomcat but we'll move any well written reviews here too.

SD and I weren't particularly impressed with the main office on Suriwong, but decided to give this offshoot a try anyway. We're very happy we did. A friend joined us for lunch at a table window to make a party of three. We started with mixed salads (for them) and a caprese for me. Mine was excellent: real mozzarella di bufala with slightly underripe tomatoes garnished with basil and a drizzle of olive oil. The waiter was surprised at my companions wanting TWO mixed salads...apparently this is share-every-dish type of service that, while appropriate in Thai restaurants, may not be the way to go in an Italian one. SD and I ordered one pizza, half with fresh rocket and cherry tomatoes and half chef's special: parma ham, shrimp, and mushrooms. Both were very good and, dare I say, possibly the best pizza I've had in bkk. The dough was perfectly cooked: no soggy center due to topping overload or poor heat distribution in the oven. The toppings themselves were fresh and tasty. We're definitely dropping in again to try one of the thirty other pizza offerings. Our friend tried the Alfredo pasta: he said it was ordinary and drowned in sauce. That's exactly how it looked: white glue at room temperature. The house red was drinkable and affordable at B140 the 1/4 carafe.
For dessert we tried the tiramisu and panna cotta. The former was surprisingly light on both cream and sugar. The latter was equally well done and both made a very good end to the meal. Some may feel that B350 is a little high for pizza. I would agree except to say that the quality is also high. About B1900 for 3.

I've been there a couple of times. My mother discovered it when she took a gemology course in the area, and she and my stepfather have always loved it. Their pizzas are excellent. Their desserts are great too. What I like is the view of their wood oven from outside.
Matt: mozarella di bufala is mozarella cheese made with Italian buffalo milk. It's the real thing, unlike that solidified glue from Denmark (and elsewhere) that you normally find on Pizza Hut, Pizza Company, Pizza Etc. offerings. Restaurants that advertise this cheese on their menus are aiming for a more discerning crowd (eg, those that prefer wine rather than Coke with their meals).
Asper: Rocket is a Brit term for (Italian) arugula, a slightly bitter leaf that is wonderful in salads and sprinkled fresh on pizza.

TC do you know there is a buffalo Mozzarella cheese factory up in Kanchanaburi. Nice, you its packed fresh in water, and it keep for a more than a week stored right. Really light stuff, not heavy at all. Perhaps too light for a pizza, but the stuff is nice. Villa used to carry it.

I do, AO. The manager of that Italian eatery on Sukh soi 25 told me a group of Italians were manufacturing it locally...an excellent idea if it's the real thing. Would the milk from local buffalo be the same, I wonder? Are they importing milk from Italian buffalos?
The next project I would suggest is growing plum tomatoes. There's no reason (I think) why we can't have the same, sweet red beauties they have in Rome.

It should be pretty similar i guess as the Italian buffaloes originated in Asia...

SD and I returned to Scoozi for another go at the menu. His pizza Margherita was excellent. I ordered the pesto: bland sauce on pre-cooked pasta. It was like eating shoelaces. So, I guess this is where we go for pizzas and wine, and avoid the pasta dishes.
