Are you listening to these as you download or are you saving them to your ipod?
I am wanting to find a few places where I can download them to my ipod and listen to them when I am travelling.
ABC News Shuffle. Was terribly disappointed though when I tried to play these back to my English class (listening to news reports exercise) because:
#1: The clarity and newsreporting is "scratchy"
#2: Irritating electric guitar intro (wtf is with that!?)
Podcasts are a thing of the past. Vidcasts are where its headed. But if you must podcast TWiT is a great one, diggnation is also great. iTunes has a top 100 list and its worth checking out.
MeMock, Use itunes for downloading podcasts.. if you subscribe to a podcast via itunes. itunes will set up a Folder on your iPod named Podacast and download as well as keep the podcasts updated.

Itunes has a large free podcast directory. but heres how to subscribe to a podcast if you have the RSS.
"In iTunes 6.0:
Click the menu: "Advanced"->"Subscribe to Podcast..."
Past in the *.xml link location for the podcast
Hit enter, and iTunes downloads the latest mp3 file available. You'll be able to see the previous podcasts available for download listed as well."

ok, sorry to be a total luddite, but I've been hearing loads about podcasts, but not really sure what they are, if they're free, where you get them. Anyone got any good general info? thanks.
Basically, a podcast is just an audio file (from my experiences, usually an mp3) uploaded onto a website for you to listen to or download...it's kind of grassroots radio programmming over the net...basically, anyone with some sort of audio recording software like Audacity (free) or Acid can wax on the sorts of themes/topics they like, record it, upload it, and perhaps an audience may start downloading their stuff onto their hardrives or mini mp3 players/phones/ iPods to listen to at their leisure...

Vidcasts may be where things are headed, but the requirements to launch a vidcast can start to get a bit more complex and expensive. Think about the bandwidth needed. Even a 30 minute podcast can easily consume 25 to 30 gigabytes per month with only 1000 weekly listeners. Vidcasts would really take it to the next level.
I am thinking of experimenting with podcasts/vidcasts with my students next year...but still I am not expecting/hoping for very many listerners or viewers.

vidcasts/podcasts could be pretty exciting for the students if set up properly but therein lies the crux! moreover, i think it could be a sort of subversive/cultish way of streaming our students to an ever deepening ocean of English syntax...
