The scam court itself will end up being a scam.
Those jet ski guys are liable to beat you to death, court or not, if you do not pay.
Can anyone from New York comment on how well the taxi court works there?

Aloha - Aloha HARD
Er, that documentary was all staged. It wasn't real!
If people don't see things my way then they are just plain stupid.
The fact it was called "Big Trouble in Tourist Thailand" and was made for Bravo is surely enough to bring its credibility into question.
Jesus is coming, open your mouth!
The bit about the sailors and the jet ski mafia wasn't staged - JJ (?) became a bit of a D list celebrity off the back of it and was invited onto a number of talkshows (well, I say a number, I remember watching 2...) where he gave his version of events. He said that the scenario wasn't staged. He did say that he had the gun for self defence and that it wasn't a 'real' gun (I think they were his words, I can't quite remember). The upshot of it all was that the programme was blamed for bringing Thailand into disrepute and that the director would be arrested (he wasn't, but there again he wasn't in Thailand at the time). The actual illegal act of threatening someone with a gun (which the jet ski guy definitely did, unkind editing or no unkind editing) was completely forgotten in the fracas and Thai nationalism that sprung from it. The whole event was blamed on the foreign film crew and the Navy boys.

Episode One of ‘Big Trouble in Tourist Thailand’ screened last week, revealing footage of what appeared to be an extortion bid by ‘JJ’ with a gun in hand, just before a planned summit on jet-ski scams on Phuket.Thai Officials try to put 'Big Trouble in Tourist Thailand' series on hold - Koh Phangan Island NewsTFS2M’s SideShowBob may have summed the incident best here.
"My initial point I never made is I highly doubt that jet ski situation would
have gone down the way it was setup to be. And I mean set up. Usually when any
of the military guys get in scraps the military police or attaches will call in
the local military for aid.
I know some guys who are the liaisons for these situations, so before they
have problems usually they go in heavy and the locals back down. So in this case
had it been handled properly, not setup for a ‒show,” J.J. would have been
forced to talk to Thai military guys.
Tell me how that would have turned out: Chances are, since the kid lied, J.J.
would have been put down gently and the military guys would have skated off
So, in that scenario, the Thais are getting screwed due to the close
relationship of the two militaries."http://www.bigmangobar.com/blog/reader-submissions/2009/09/18/the-fallout-over-big-trouble-in-thailand-blunders-recriminations-naivete/..... OK...since I have never been to Phuket...can somebody assure me there are NO scams involving jet skis...and why a well educated and respectable Brit told me many years ago the place was a shit hole?
"Take this, brother; may it serve you well."
